The Journey

Creating, in whatever art form, is like birthing dreams. There is something greater than the human self that wants to come through you into the world of form. You know when you're tapping into that place of timeless wisdom. You feel when you're "in the flow" of divine inspiration. When the channel is open, it can be a very profound and moving experience.

For many songwriters, there is no question involved, it is something one simply must do, like breathing. In any case, since childhood I've enjoyed creating songs. It's been entertaining, and therapeutic, inspiring, and fulfilling. Sharing music with others has been my way of connecting hearts and communing with spirit.

Most of the songs on this CD seemed to write themselves in the late 90's...a period of greater change than I realized at the time. Before long, I recognized a thread that connected them. I didn't really know then what some of them meant, to be completely honest (though it has become clear with time). I didn't know how I was going to come up with the resources to record them as envisioned, but I trusted in the deep desire to bring about their highest possible expression.

As I took each step, everything fell into place, the people came together, the money became available, and the inspiration was there as the songs were recorded. It was incredibly fulfilling to see the songs come to life through the help of Peter McConnel and John Lovejoy, the most wonderful, and talented musicians that I could imagine. It was, in fact, sometimes overwhelming to see how the possibilities and inspiration expanded through the addition of their gifts (the sum total is often greater than it's separate parts), and I am deeply grateful for their contribution to this work.

The first day of recording, the apple tree outside the studio window was in full bloom, and I was delighted when hummingbirds came to feed on the blossoms. It was several months later that I came across a passage in a book that said the hummingbird is the symbol of shamans and healers. It represents tireless joy and the nectar of life, and is the symbol for accomplishing that which seems impossible. For me, it's a symbol for following one's heart. Thank you for the opportunity to share these dreams of my heart.

Enjoy The Journey...: )
