The Journey | Awakening | Back into the Garden

To Sarajevo With Love (I Don't Understand)

I don't understand how people who
lived together
In relative harmony so many years suddenly can't,
I don't understand how people can
Turn against each other
Over invisible boundaries drawn upon the land,
How did this ever come to be?
How can they ever find their way back to peace?

I don't understand how people can
Tear apart their country,
Killing their neighbors,
Spilling their blood with their own hands,
I don't understand how people can be so brutal,
Is there no limit to man's inhumanity to man?
How can their hatred burn so deep,
How can they ever find their way back to peace?

It's an old, familiar story,
Of how people can be led astray,
When a madman comes to power, you can only Shake your head and
say, "I don't understand"

I don't understand how people can find a reason
To justify any of this kind of madness,
I don't understand how people can be so heartless
To ransom the future of their children's happiness,
How can they leave this legacy?
A generation left to say,
"I don't understand"
